Investing in the capital market is attractive to a wide range of professions, from entrepreneurs, employees, students, to housewives. Investors from the group of workers and entrepreneurs are the ones who invest the most on the trading floor.
Based on data from the Indonesian Central Securities Depository (KSEI), during the period 2021 to June 2025, investors from the entrepreneur group recorded the highest investment value compared to investors from other groups. If in 2021 the amount was recorded at IDR 291.37 trillion, as of June 2025 the value had reached IDR 611.87 trillion or doubled.
Meanwhile, investors from the group of workers who receive wages/salaries (private employees, civil servants, and teachers) have a smaller investment value. In the same period, the investment value of workers was recorded at IDR 253.31 trillion (2021) and became IDR 466.54 trillion (June 2025).
However, in terms of the number of investors, the group of workers who are listed on the stock exchange is more than the group of entrepreneurs. In 2021, the portion of workers who became investors was 33.98% of the total investors. Meanwhile, the portion of entrepreneurs who became investors was 13.59%.
This larger share of employee investors compared to entrepreneur investors continues in the following years until 2025. In 2025, the share of employee investors is 37.74%, while the share of entrepreneur investors is 18.60%.
The increasing number of workers becoming stock investors cannot be separated from the ease of digital transactions. Although the income of this group is relatively small or limited, they are enthusiastic about trading to get a profit margin from the trading floor.
