Tariffs Unchanged, Strengthening Taxpayer Confidence

  • The government plans to cancel tax rate increases in 2026. Thus, a number of economists on Wednesday (3/9) suggested that the Directorate General of Taxes needs to use a new approach to increase taxpayer revenue through cooperative compliance.
  • Tax observer from Danny Darussalam Tax Center (DDTC) Darussalam said, this cooperative compliance is based on a relationship of mutual openness between tax authorities and taxpayers (WP), creating a harmonious and complementary relationship.

This Village Successfully Exports Coffee to 3 Countries, Racik Expansion to the World

  • Fragrant news comes from Sidomulyo, a village on the slopes of Mount Gumitir, Jember, East Java. The village cooperative, dubbed a "foreign exchange village," has made new history by releasing its first coffee exports to three countries at once – Brunei Darussalam, Hong Kong, and Singapore – last month.
  • The value of the commitment note or letter of intent (LoI) for the three Indonesian trading partner countries was recorded at US$78,000, which is also proof that village cooperatives can compete in the international market. In detail, US$30,000 came from Brunei Darussalam, US$23,000 from Singapore, and US$25,000 from Hong Kong.

Special Autonomy Funds Not Subject to Efficiency Measures in 2026

  • Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati confirmed that the government will not include Special Autonomy (Otsus) funds in the budget efficiency target in 2026.
  • Next year's allocation of special autonomy funds will be used for scholarships, school construction, health facilities, infrastructure, procurement of internet and electricity facilities, and environmental sanitation development.
  • The government has finally fulfilled the aspiration not to save the Special Autonomy budget, the regions receiving the Special Autonomy Fund will be encouraged to increase its absorption so that it can be maximized.

Improve Investment Efficiency to Attract Investors

  • It takes a lot of capital to realize investment in Indonesia because inefficiency is still high. This high incremental capital output ratio (ICOR) can be an obstacle in accelerating Indonesia's economic growth, which is one of the government's main focuses.
  • To achieve the growth target of 6.3% by 2026, the National Development Planning Agency (Bappenas) estimates that Rp 8,297.8 trillion in investment is needed. Meanwhile, based on the National Long and Medium Term Development Plan (RPJMN) 2025-2029, investments totaling IDR 47,573.45 trillion are needed to achieve 8% economic growth.
