Tembagapura, Mimika, September 20, 2025 - PT Freeport Indonesia's underground mine rescue team on Saturday, September 20, 2025, at 08:45 WIT, has found 2 (two) coworkers who were trapped in a wet material slide incident in the Grasberg Block Cave area.
With a deep sense of sorrow, we convey that from the identification process by the medical team together with the police it has been confirmed that the two coworkers are:
- Mr. Wigih Hartono, Electrician, PT Cita Contract
- Mr. Irawan, Electrician, PT Cita Contract
"On behalf of the company and personally, I express my deepest condolences to the family left behind. PT Freeport Indonesia will continue to accompany and provide full support to the family during this difficult time," said PT Freeport Indonesia President Director Tony Wenas.

Rescuers worked relentlessly with all their might, despite the huge challenges and high risks.
Until now, efforts to search for 5 (five) other coworkers are still ongoing. The company invites all parties to provide prayers and moral support for the rescue team in the field so that all colleagues can be found soon.
