The phenomenon of an increase in the percentage of unemployment among highly educated graduates (D4, S1, S2, S3) from August 2023 to August 2025 is an anomaly that needs to be observed, considering that this group is ideally more easily absorbed. According to the Central Bureau of Statistics, this trend must first be seen in terms of numbers, where the population of graduates from D4 to S3 is indeed getting bigger because Indonesia is in the demographic bonus phase. The main problem is that the speed of absorption of jobs that require these high qualifications has not kept up with the rate of increase in the number of graduates. Therefore, in addition to overcoming the mismatch between the types of jobs and the types of graduates, it is necessary to accelerate economic growth by more than 5% for a country with a large labor force like Indonesia, so that the absorption of labor can be maximized. On the other hand, there is a positive signal in the form of a decrease in the number of working people with primary school education and below, indicating a tendency for primary school graduates to continue their education to a higher level, which is in line with efforts to improve the quality of national human resources.
