Efforts to increase the capacity of micro, small and medium enterprisesUMKM) will get a new breakthrough with the emergence of the SAPA UMKM system. Through this platform, it is planned that UMKM players will be registered in the digital ecosystem system, so that they can obtain various incentives from various ministries and state institutions.

Minister of Micro, Small and Medium EnterprisesUMKM) Maman Abdurrahman said that the SAPA UMKM digital platform, which will be launched in the near future, integrates access and business support services, to government priority programs.

"The presence of SAPA UMKM will actually be a friend of the growth and development of micro, small and medium entrepreneurs. Because later there will be AI technology, Akal Imitasi, machine learning, and we will encourage integration with all related institutions," said Maman when attending the Pesta Rakyat event in Jakarta (22/8/2025).

He explained that this platform was developed to map and provide better services to 57 million UMKM players in Indonesia. This system will make it easier for the government to identify and solve various problems faced by UMKM, including licensing and product certification.

If there are UMKM that do not yet have a Business Identification Number (NIB), this system will automatically direct them to take care of it through the relevant institutions. The same applies to halal certification and Food and Drug Administration (BPOM) distribution permits.

SAPA UMKM is also expected to encourage entrepreneurs to be involved in a number of strategic government programs such as the Red and White Village Cooperative (KDMP) and Free Nutritious Meals (MBG). Maman explained, all of this is planned to be integrated so that it can facilitate UMKM.

With this system, the government can have more accurate data on UMKM in Indonesia. The system will also make it easier for the government to identify and resolve various problems faced by UMKM, including licensing and product certification.

Maman also ensures that this registration obligation is not to make things difficult, but to provide protection, services, and various incentives to UMKM.

"This is a symbiotic mutualism between the government and UMKM. This is part of the important needs for UMKM so that we can provide maximum services," he said.

The SAPA UMKM system, said Maman, was developed to update data from the Single Data Information System (SIDT) for UMKM dynamically and in real time. The system has various features that can be utilized by UMKM, such as access to financing sources, product and business certification, marketing and marketplace features, to mentoring and training.

In addition, the system is also expected to facilitate the UMKM data verification process, identify recipients of the 0.5% business tax subsidy, and integrate all UMKM data nationally.

Furthermore, Maman revealed a number of benefits for UMKM that register in the SAPA UMKM system. "(If not registered) lose the opportunity to get facilities for things, or services that we will provide," he said.

This is because, said Maman, the number of employees at the Ministry of UMKM , which currently totals one thousand people, is not enough if they have to take care of 57 million UMKM throughout the country. He also assessed that manual management is still difficult.

"Where is the logic? It is almost impossible if we use conventional methods, we can provide one-on-one services to 57 million micro, small and medium entrepreneurs spread throughout Indonesia," said Maman. "The only way is by digitizing and utilizing technology."

Breakthrough

Deputy Director of the Institute for Development of Economics and Finance (Indef) Eko Listiyanto said that the idea to create the SAPA UMKM system is a very brilliant idea, with the aim of increasing the competitiveness of UMKM. Through the SAPA UMKM system, UMKM players will be facilitated in verifying their data and business certifications such as halal certification.

He asked the government to seriously develop this system, because it works well. UMKM that have not been touched by the government can become developed and even greater.

"This system will integrate all the processes needed by UMKM players. So, in essence they are made easier," he told SUAR in Jakarta (22/8/2025).

Eko said that the process of launching the SAPA UMKM system should be attended by representatives of great UMKM in each region so that the euphoria can be felt.

One of the UMKM players who are looking forward to the SAPA UMKM system is Santi, who is the owner of Wizz Bites. According to him, this platform can be an important entry point for data collection and clustering of business actors.

"UMKM are growing a lot. What is needed is clustering. So that training or assistance from the government can be right on target, according to its level," Santi said.

He sees that the constraints of internet access in some areas should be overcome by the role of communities at the sub-district level. According to him, the community, whether managed by the private sector or local government, can become a data collection node, so that not everything has to be done individually by business actors.

For Santi, the UMKM program also facilitates access to various facilities. Starting from certification, Business Identification Number, to export opportunities can be done in one portal. "It's better in one place. We just need to enter the house, then open to the rooms. So it's easier," he said.
