A number of new brands and variants will make their debut at the Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) 2025, which will be held from July 24 to August 3, 2025, at ICE BSD, Tangerang. This event is sure to be a magnet for automotive lovers with the presence of various new car models, the latest technology, and aggressive sales strategies from various well-known brands.
The seven brands that will debut at GIIAS are Geely, Denza, Seres, Neta, Jaecoo, Aletra, and Polytron. The presence of these brands will bring the latest technology, such as battery-based electric vehicles, artificial intelligence (AI), and digital connectivity systems.
Not only a showcase for new brands, GIIAS is also a stage for existing brands to showcase new variants. PT Mitsubishi Motors Krama Yudha Sales Indonesia (MMKSI) utilized this moment to release the new Destinator variant.
The 7-passenger Sport Utility Vehicles (SUV) variant is powered by a 1,500 cc turbo engine. The Destinator can already be ordered, with an estimated price between Rp 400 million and Rp 500 million.
"1,500 turbo SUV, probably (called DST, Destinator). Almost similar to the XForce, but the engine type is different," said a Mitsubishi salesperson, Thursday, June 26, 2025.
Other brands will also present their latest product lines. Hyundai will introduce the Ioniq 6 N, a high-performance electric sedan, and the Kona facelift, an update to their compact SUV. BYD plans to launch a modern electric Multi Purpose Vehicle (MPV), while Wuling will strengthen the Electric Vehicle (EV) segment with the Binguo EV.
Japanese manufacturers such as Toyota, Honda, Suzuki, and Mitsubishi will focus on efficient hybrid vehicles with advanced safety features such as Toyota Safety Sense and Honda SENSING. China's Great Wall Motors (GWM) will also showcase their hybrid and electric SUVs, including the Haval H6, Jolion, and Ora 03.

Suzuki Indonesia President Director Minoru Amano said that GIIAS 2025 was an opportunity for Suzuki to share the steps it has taken and will take in the future to address the issue of carbon neutrality.
One of them is by using GIIAS as a moment for the premiere of eVITARA. This first mass-produced Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) is prepared as a revolutionary innovation as well as a solution to emphasize commitment to carbon neutrality efforts through a multi-pathway strategy . This is the public's chance to see eVITARA, which will be launched in early 2026.
In addition to the eVITARA, Suzuki also showcased the manufacturer's new Fronx variant. This variant also offers hybrid technology to support a more environmentally friendly vehicle.
"The response from Indonesians was unexpected as they were not just curious - they fell in love," Minoru said.
Sales Prediction
Gaikindo Chairman Yohannes Nangoi revealed that the Indonesian automotive industry will be able to survive and grow.
"Currently, the Indonesian automotive industry still has the opportunity to continue to grow as long as it is optimistic, careful, vigilant and rational, one of the efforts is to maintain and encourage market demand, both domestic and international," he said in an official release.
Automotive observer from the Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB), Yannes Martinus Pasaribu, believes that GIIAS 2025 has the main allure of new and innovative cars so that it has great potential to boost car sales.
"GIIAS 2025 has great potential to become a momentum for increased car sales, especially thanks to the presence of many new brands and the launch of innovative models that consumers are interested in, especially Hybrid Electric Vehicles (HEV) and BEV in the middle price segment (Rp 200 million-Rp 400 million)," he told Suar, (22/7/2025).

Yannes also highlighted the promotional strategies that will be implemented during the exhibition. According to him, various attractive programs such as light down payment (DP), affordable installments, and direct discounts for many brands from China can encourage consumers to immediately make a purchase transaction.
Furthermore, he predicts that the auto show will feature various types of vehicles, including electric, hybrid, and fossil-fueled cars. However, gasoline and diesel cars are expected to remain the majority.
"About 20% of the exposed products are EVs, 5% Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicles (PHEV), and 20% HEVs. The largest share remains in conventional ICE cars at around 50%-55%," he said.
According to him, the GIIAS 2025 car show will achieve the sales target of 60,000 units, considering that January-June 2025 has sold around 35,846 units.
However, he cautioned that there are challenges in boosting car sales due to macroeconomic conditions such as high inflation, the increase in luxury tax (PPnBM), and people's purchasing power that has not fully recovered. To ensure the achievement of targets and industry growth, he underlined several important conditions
"One of the conditions is to extend the 0% VAT incentive, accelerate the construction of SPKLU (Public Electric Vehicle Charging Stations), and ensure significant incentives for APMs/producers who will use products from local battery factories," he said.
