The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government proposed two projects to be included in the list of National Strategic Projects (PSN), namely the Development of the Jakarta Old City Tourism Area and the Sumber Waras Hospital Development. The aim is to equalize development and encourage sustainable national and regional economic growth.
Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung held a limited meeting with Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto to discuss the proposal at the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs office, Lapangan Banteng, Central Jakarta on Monday (10/11/2025).
According to Pramono, the Kota Tua Jakarta area has high historical and economic value, through revitalization and development it is expected to produce added value that benefits the central and regional economies.
In developing the area, his party will invite a number of parties including the Ministry of Creative Economy and the Daya Anagata Nusantara Investment Management Agency (Danantara Indonesia).
"We have discussed the plan to develop the old city tourist area with the Coordinating Minister and proposed it as a PSN," he said.
The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government will first work on basic infrastructure in the area.Previously, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government had improved and developed the Transit Oriented Development (TOD) area in Kota Tua.
The initial stage of improvement will begin in 2026 with a focus on improving basic facilities and infrastructure, such as roads, rivers, and pedestrian areas. He also proposed that the Jakarta Institute of Arts (IKJ) be relocated to the area to make Kota Tua a center of creativity and art.

In addition to proposing the Kota Tua Jakarta Tourism Area as part of the PSN, Pramono also proposed the revitalization/development of Sumber Waras Hospital to also be included in the PSN list.
The city is preparing to build an international standard hospital on the 3.6-hectare Sumber Waras land after obtaining clearance from the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) and the Supreme Audit Agency (BPK).
"We want to build a type A hospital with international standards. With a large area and strategic location, we want this hospital to be the main reference in Indonesia related to heart disease, cancer, and other special diseases," he said.
He hopes that the development of the Kota Tua area and the construction of the Sumber Waras hospital into a PSN can facilitate the process of licensing, funding, and cross-agency coordination.
Accept Proposal
Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto received the proposed PSN list from the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government and will be discussed further by involving related parties.
Kota Tua is attractive for its combination of rich history, unique architecture and lively cultural atmosphere. It offers an educational experience through its museums, allowing visitors to explore first-hand the history of Jakarta since colonial times, as well as being a center of artistic and cultural activities.
"The revitalization of the Kota Tua Jakarta area can have an impact on the central and regional economies, this will be discussed in more depth," he said.
Economic Observer of the Institute for Development of Economics and Finance (INDEF) Eko Listiyanto said that not all projects can be included in the PSN list, the project must provide economic benefits.
PSN development can directly absorb labor, which aims to reduce unemployment and increase residents' income.
"PSN includes various infrastructure projects such as roads, dams, airports, ports, and industrial estates to improve connectivity and efficiency," he told SUAR in Jakarta (10/11/2025).
PSN can attract significant private investment and provide government guarantees to technically and financially viable projects.
He assessed that the development of the Jakarta Old Town Tourism Area as part of the PSN is acceptable because it provides economic benefits and invites tourists.
Private Collaboration Makes PSN More Qualified
Chairperson of the Indonesian Employers Association (Apindo) Shinta Kamdani said collaboration between the private sector and the government could make PSN more qualified.
"The government can rely on the private sector to overcome limited resources, both in terms of finance, human resources, and other support," he told SUAR in Jakarta (10/11).
Private sector can bring innovation and efficiency in project implementation, collaboration enables accelerated completion of strategic projects
