Indonesia-EU Negotiations Completed, Businesses Need to Prepare for Expansion
- In the midst of the uncertainty of multilateral economic cooperation plus the tariff war by the United States, regional and even bilateral cooperation has become a cushion and even a foundation for many countries. Therefore, the completion of long-term economic cooperation negotiations between Indonesia and the European Union is now strengthened by the Indonesia-European Union Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (IEU-CEPA), which is a breath of fresh air for the business world. This agreement is targeted to take effect on January 1, 2027.
- Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto predicts that Indonesia's exports to the European Union will increase significantly by 60% and increase national income by USD 2.8 billion, as well as impacting 5 million workers in Indonesia related to labor-intensive sectors, and reducing poverty.
- Chairperson of the Indonesian Employers Association Shinta Kamdani hopes that the IEU-CEPA cooperation will create better trade cooperation, which is transformative, not just a paper agreement. "Equal access, plus investment, plus standard alignment," said Shinta at the Business Forum after the agreement signing ceremony.

Mediating the Aspirations of Labor and the Business World in the Draft Revision of the Manpower Law
- The working committee meeting of the Manpower Bill of Commission IX of the DPR, Tuesday (23/9/2025) opens up opportunities for revising the Law related to Manpower. What are the aspirations of workers and employers?
- Labor welfare and protection were discussed again after Commission IX of the House of Representatives held a working meeting with 22 labor unions in Jakarta last Tuesday. The agenda of the meeting was to capture the aspirations of workers in preparation for the third amendment to Law Number 13 of 2003 concerning Manpower. Therefore, labor protection regulations not only reflect the fulfillment of workers' welfare, but also the interests of the business world.
- However, more than just accommodating the interests of the two parties, the transparency and accountability of the legislative process must still take into account the health of the business climate and ensure that the fulfillment of labor regulations does not reduce business competitiveness in the midst of mounting global competition.

Maintaining World Coffee Supply for Stable Prices
- The world is facing an imbalance of supply and demand in the global coffee market. Demand for coffee beans is steadily increasing around the world, driven by the popularity of coffee shops and the growing coffee-drinking culture in many countries. However, coffee production is facing challenges due to limited supply. This condition has driven the trend of coffee prices to increase since the last 5 years.
- The crop, which thrives in the tropics, is facing challenges as the global climate worsens. Coffee production is in danger of declining due to extreme weather patterns such as prolonged drought or excessive rainfall. This has damaged coffee plantations in many major producing regions, including Brazil, Vietnam, Colombia and even Indonesia. Indonesia as one of the world's largest coffee producers, 4th place with a 6% share of world production, is also feeling the impact of this phenomenon.
