The transaction value achieved in Trade Expo Indonesia (TEI) 2025 reached USD 22.8 billion, which exceeded the initial target of USD 16.5 billion.

This was revealed by the Minister of Trade of the Republic of Indonesia, Budi Santoso, during the Closing Ceremony of TEI 2025 which was held at the Indonesia Convention Exhibition (ICE), Tangerang Regency, Banten, Sunday (19/10/2025).

This TEI, which was held starting from Wednesday (15/10/2025), carries the theme"Discover Indonesia's Excellence: Trade Beyond Boundaries".

"Transactions that occurred during the 40th Trade Expo Indonesia were recorded at USD 22.8 billion, or equivalent to IDR 376.2 trillion," he said.

The number of transactions in TEI 2025 also came from Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) which reached USD 2.27 billion, on the spot transactions of USD 71.6 million, and business matching of USD 63.4 million.

"The value of fairground transactions and business matching increased by 88% compared to last year in 2024. In particular, we also recorded transactions generated by UMKM reaching USD 474.7 or equivalent to Rp7.8 trillion," Budi explained.

The 40th TEI which involved 1,169 companies as exhibitors with details for the Food, Beverage & Agricultural Products, Licensing & Franchise zones as many as 623 companies, Fashion-Lifestyle & Others 603 companies, and Manufacture Products & Services 393 companies successfully attracted 34,550 visitors.

The number of buyers recorded during the TEI event also reached up to 8,045 from 130 countries, with the most buyers from Malaysia as many as 769 buyers, followed by China (PRC), India, Nigeria, and also Egypt.

Meanwhile, the country with the highest transaction value in TEI 2025 is India, with total transactions reaching USD 4.3 billion.

"Then the Netherlands amounted to USD 3.9 billion, the third was Vietnam at USD 3.3 billion, the Philippines at USD 3.1 billion, and China at USD 2.4 billion," he said.

The products most in demand by buyers in the event are mining products, with a transaction value of USD 5.5 billion, precious metals USD 2.7 billion, palm oil and its derivatives USD 2.3 billion, charcoal & bricket USD 1.6 billion, and spare parts USD 1.4 billion.

In TEI 2025 there is also Pangan Nusa, which is a forum to promote Indonesian culinary products to open export opportunities abroad. Various countries have also shown interest in Indonesian products.

Pangan Nusa this time attracted buyers from overseas such as the Netherlands, Malaysia, Italy, and Singapore, resulting in culinary expansion cooperation abroad with a potential value of Rp121.2 billion, business matching of Rp37.6 billion, and on-the-spot transactions of Rp2.36 billion.

"This result will strengthen Indonesia's service exports, especially culinary and retail," Budi said.

There are several stages carried out by the Ministry of Trade (MoT) in TEI 2025. Before TEI is held, the Ministry of Trade has conducted business matching with companies that have registered, with the hope of creating trade contracts during the event. After that, the Ministry will ensure that the trade agreement goes well.

The Ministry of Trade will also provide assistance to micro, small and medium enterprisesUMKM) so that they can increase their potential so that they have global competitiveness to export their products.

"We will provide assistance, both domestically and abroad. Because this is a good opportunity for our UMKM , it is not easy to get buyers. We will continue to fight for it, hopefully more and more of our UMKM can penetrate the export market," he hoped.

Cooperation initiatives

Various efforts were made in TEI 2025 to increase the competitiveness of local products in order to penetrate the global market, one of which was the result of collaboration between the Ministry of Trade and the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin), as well as Astra, in the form of the Smart Export Strategy program launched on Friday (17/10/2025).

Through this program, it is hoped that UMKM players in Indonesia with quality products that have distribution strategy problems will be able to become exporters. Because based on data, out of a total of more than 66 million UMKM players in Indonesia, only around 35,000 to 40,000 are actively exporting their products.

Juan Permata Adoe, Deputy Chairperson of Kadin Indonesia's Export Development Coordinator, said the program is an important step towards realizing the national target of 500,000 new exporters by 2030.

"Indonesia needs assertive exporters, not reactive ones. Global players win markets because they prepare strategies, not wait for opportunities," Juan explained.

Meanwhile, the contribution of UMKM to exports is currently still below 15%. Thus, this program is expected to improve the quality of human resources (HR), in order to increase national competitiveness in the international arena.

Exporting Indonesian products to the global market is not just about logistics and shipping. However, quality human resources play an important role.

Chairman of Yayasan Dharma Bakti Astra (YDBA), Rahmat Samulo, considers that strengthening human resources in terms of exports is a long investment that needs to be made in order to increase the resilience of the Indonesian economy amid global uncertainty.

"We do not see training like this as a CSR(corporate social responsibility) activity, but as an investment. If UMKM understand the strategy, they can upgrade and enter the global supply chain," he explained.
