Alternatives for Reaching a Consensus Ahead of the 2026 Minimum Wage Determination
- The government's decision to postpone setting the 2026 minimum wage should be used as an opportunity to open negotiations between employers, the government, and workers in order to reach a compromise that accommodates the interests of all three parties. Four alternative wage calculation policies are available as a starting point for dialogue that can still be opened.
- A 6.5% increase in the single minimum wage, in line with President Prabowo Subianto's directive last year.
- Taking wage disparities into account, KSPI opened the minimum wage increase interval between 6% and 7% based on considerations from employers who objected to excessive increases.
- In order to pursue economic growth and boost purchasing power, the increase interval was made more detailed, namely 6.5%-6.8%.
- When considering alpha to accommodate differences in inflation and economic growth between provinces/cities/districts, the proposed alpha value is in the range of 0.7-0.9, so that the gap is smaller than the RPP alpha of 0.3-0.8.

Revision of Financial Sector Strengthening Law Encourages Industry Players to Take the Initiative
- On Wednesday (3/12), the House of Representatives revealed that the planned revision of Law No. 4 of 2023 concerning the Development and Strengthening of the Financial Sector (P2SK Law) will strengthen the authority of the financial sector in its obligation to maintain stability, while encouraging financial service industry players to take the initiative rather than simply waiting for demand. This addresses public and financial observer concerns that the revision of the P2SK Law would weaken the independence of state financial authorities such as Bank Indonesia (BI), the Financial Services Authority (OJK), and the Deposit Insurance Corporation (LPS). The function of financial intermediation is still dependent on demand, whereas the financial sector must move faster as a catalyst for economic growth.

Advancing the Competitiveness of Indonesia's Special Economic Zones
- Special Economic Zones (SEZs) have become a key instrument for ASEAN countries to attract investment and drive economic growth, and Indonesia is no exception. Indonesia's SEZs must be able to compete with, and even surpass, those of other ASEAN countries. To date, Indonesia has established 24 SEZs covering an area of 20,912 hectares. Compared to other ASEAN countries, this number is still relatively small. Malaysia and Vietnam, for example, which have smaller land areas than Indonesia, actually have larger special economic zones.
- Data on ASEAN investment in 2023-2024 shows that ASEAN is becoming a dynamic global investment center. In the ASEAN region, Singapore leads with an estimated FDI of US$143.4 billion in 2024. This confirms its position as a major regional financial hub. Indonesia ranks second, with FDI reaching US$24.2 billion in 2024. Vietnam follows with US$20.2 billion. Countries such as Malaysia (US$11.4 billion) and Thailand (US$10.6 billion) also show significant investment flows. These FDI achievements are inseparable from the strategic policies implemented by member countries, where Special Economic Zones (SEZs) havebecome the key to attracting foreign capital and accelerating economic development.
