Aspiring for the Real Sector to Rise, the Backbone of State Revenue Lies in Palm Oil

  • Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa, in a Plenary Session of the DPR, Tuesday (23/9/2025), said that real sector business actors have an important role as contributors to state revenue and the engine of the country's economic growth this year and next year. A fast-growing real sector can also boost state revenue, which ultimately drives economic growth.
  • The role of real sector expansion is also expected to have a direct and tangible impact in the remaining of this year to boost state revenue. This is because, similar to the state expenditure realization which has not been optimal in the early fourth quarter of 2025, the state revenue realization has only reached half of the established outlook.
  • Regarding the state revenue realization of IDR 1,638.7 trillion, which only reached 57.2% of the 2025 state budget outlook, according to Deputy Minister of Finance Anggito Abimanyu, there are still a number of challenges and opportunities to maximize state revenue until the end of 2025.

Astra Group Joins the Electric Vehicle Ecosystem, Develops EV Component Products

  • The high demand for electric vehicles (EV) brings blessings to the local automotive component industry. They can compete and adapt to the electric vehicle ecosystem. Astra Group, as one of the market leaders in conventional vehicles in Indonesia, inevitably has to keep up with market developments. Through its subsidiary PT Astra Otoparts Tbk (AUTO), Astra Group is developing EV component products.
  • The gasoline engine vehicle market is indeed still very large. Thus, the ICE component industry still has resilience amidst the electrification current. Some of the special components for electric vehicles that have been developed include batteries, drive shafts, caliper assy, duet HV battery intake, EV battery box, battery case, cover motor unit, up to hybrid dampers and hose cooling inverters & motors. AUTO currently has more than 15,000 outlets and export networks to more than 50 countries. Minister of SOE Position Still Vacant, Discourse on Merger with Danantara Strengthens

  • After Erick Tohir was inaugurated as Minister of Youth and Sports at the State Palace replacing Dito Ariotedjo who was affected by the reshuffle, the seat of the Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) has not been filled by a definitive minister. Along with Erick's inauguration, on Wednesday (17/09/2025), President Prabowo Subianto appointed Deputy Minister of SOEs as well as Chief Operation Officer of the Anagata Nusantara Investment Management Agency or Danantara, Dony Oskaria, as the acting Minister of SOEs.
  • The issue of merging the Ministry of SOEs with Danantara then emerged after the President only appointed Dony as the ad interim Minister of SOEs. The Minister of State Secretary, Prasetyo Hadi, confirmed the discourse on the merger of the two institutions. However, Prasetyo said the merger is still in the process of being studied. 
  • Chairman of the DPR RI Legislation Body (Baleg) Bob Hasan revealed that the Danantara Bill urgently needs to be included in the list of national legislation programs (Prolegnas). According to him, the regulation is needed to tidy up the governance of SOEs which currently still overlap with Danantara.

Maintain Financial Health, Change Bad Habits

  • The OCBC 2025 Financial Fitness Index research indicates a decline in financial health among young people. The research, which targets young people aged 25-35 years, shows that the financial health of young Indonesians is still far from perfect. Many bad habits are considered to interfere with good financial management.
  • OCBC's research highlights several bad habits that damage financial health. Among other things, 14% of respondents admitted that their expenses exceeded their income. There are also 56% of respondents who often pay credit card bills at the minimum amount, a practice that can trap consumers in long-term debt burdens. 
  • In addition, 39% of respondents often borrow money from friends or family. One habit that is also bad is that many respondents admit to spending money just to follow the lifestyle of friends (76%). This finding further illustrates that excessive consumptive behavior can encourage an increase in consumptive credit.
