Save State Revenue, Palm Oil Derivatives Export Violations Thwarted

  • The Special Task Force for State Revenue Optimization (Satgassus OPN) of the National Police, the Directorate General of Taxes, and the Directorate General of Customs and Excise of the Ministry of Finance thwarted the illegal export of 87 containers of palm oil derivative products. The disclosure stems from the finding of an export permit notification for fatty matter commodities owned by PT MMS at Tanjung Priok Port, Jakarta, between October 20 and October 25, 2025. The total load of fatty matter has a net weight of 1,802 tons worth IDR 28.7 billion. As an export product, fatty matter is an export product that is not subject to export duty. In the downstream palm oil industry, this by-product of biodiesel processing is a raw material for the production of solvents, cleaners, and other derivative chemical products that have promising added value. However, after being traced, they did not import fatty matter, but crude palm oil derivative products, so it is classified as a category subject to export duty.

Collaboration to Address Climate Change Risks that Undermine Coffee and Cocoa Production

  • Efforts to mitigate the impact of extreme climate on plantation commodities have entered a new phase with a strategic collaboration between the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) and the Indonesian Coffee and Cocoa Research Center (Puslitkoka). This initiative aims to integrate precision climate data throughout the plantation supply chain.
  • In this collaboration, BMKG is tasked with providing Climate Early Warning (for example, early prediction of El Nino or La Nina) and dynamic weather data. Meanwhile, Puslitkoka translates the data into appropriate Agricultural Technical Recommendations, such as guidance on watering intensity, pruning time, and pest control schedule. Delays in weather information have been proven to cut national coffee and cocoa productivity by 30%-60%, so this collaboration is key in realizing adaptive and sustainable farm management.
