Industry Still Confident of Expansion, Manufacturing Remains Stable

  • The September 2025 Industrial Confidence Index (IKI) value, released by the Ministry of Industry on Thursday (30/9/2025), shows that it is still in an expansive and positive phase. Namely, at 53.02.
  • A total of 69.6% of businesses recorded feeling optimistic, up 1.5% compared to the previous month's percentage. Meanwhile, 24.3% of businesses stated that their business conditions were stable and remained in an expansion position.

Economy slows down due to geoeconomic conflicts, need to anticipate

  • The latest Chief Economists Outlook report released by the Center for the New Economy and Society of the World Economic Forum (WEF) on Thursday, September 25, 2025, states that 61% of respondents expect economic conditions to weaken(somewhat weaker), while 39% of respondents expressed expectations to bemuch weaker. As many as 82% of respondents pointed to the US reciprocal tariff policy as the culprit for the increase in geoeconomic disputes.

Synchronized and Precision Data, the Key to Accurate Distribution of Energy Subsidies

  • As of September 2025, the Ministry of Finance has realized Rp218 trillion in subsidies or 43.7% of the 2025 State Budget ceiling of Rp498.8 trillion. Unfortunately, the distribution of subsidies is still often misdirected. It is evident that people in deciles 8-10 still enjoy energy subsidies and compensation. Deciles 8 and 10, people with per capita incomes of Rp6,500,000 to over Rp20,000,000 per month, still enjoy energy subsidies and compensation, with benefit receipt rates ranging from 9%-11%. In detail, people in decile 8 receive subsidies and compensation for electricity up to Rp20.7 trillion and fuel up to Rp7.8 trillion; people in decile 9 receive subsidies and compensation for electricity up to Rp18.7 trillion and fuel up to Rp7 trillion; and people in decile 10 receive subsidies and compensation for electricity up to Rp16.6 trillion and fuel up to Rp6.3 trillion.

Finance Minister Purbaya Promises to Speed Up Energy Subsidy Payments
In a meeting with Commission XI of the House of Representatives, Finance Minister Yudi Sadewa emphasized that the government will accelerate the payment of subsidy arrears and energy compensation to state-owned enterprises. He acknowledged complaints from Pertamina and PLN due to delays, and said the DPR's criticism was reasonable because slow processes could disrupt the companies' cash flow.
