PUBG Restrictions Considered Excessive Amidst the Progress of the Game Industry

  • The government's plan to restrict access to the online game , PUBG mobile, has drawn strong reactions from national game industry business players. They consider the plan to be reactive and potentially hamper the development of the national game industry.
  • The Daily Chairperson of the Indonesian Esports Association (IESPA) Martha Wigoeno regrets the plan to limit PUBG, considering that this industry has scored many achievements and opened thousands of new jobs.

Head of BPS: Economic Data Shows Optimism and Opportunities Ahead

  • In the midst of global uncertainty and complex domestic challenges, the government needs a foothold to make the right policies. This is where the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) comes in to provide answers with accurate and credible data. Supported by no less than 20,900 employees spread across offices in every province and even district/city in Indonesia, BPS has an abundance of data that can certainly help navigate the economy appropriately.
  • The following are excerpts from an exclusive interview with BPS Head Amalia Adininggar Widyasanti at the BPS Lounge, BPS Headquarters, Jakarta, Monday (10/11/2025). Two Schemes to Boost Investment in Industrial Research and Innovation

  • To encourage investment in research and industrial innovation, the government has introduced two state-funded research program schemes. These are the Priority Research Program (PRP) and the Strategic Research Program (PRS). Increased research can improve the competitiveness of products and human resources, leading to improved public welfare.
  • PRP will be the umbrella that guarantees the sustainability of 16,700 researches from all over Indonesia funded by the ministry, with an average budget of IDR 150,000,000 per researcher. Unlike PRP, the PRS scheme focuses on developing research products for industrial needs with funding of up to IDR 2,500,000,000 per year, or IDR 5,000,000,000 if in the form of a consortium, and can be extended. PRS will be oriented towards solving industrial problems and accelerating downstream strategies.

Bps data said that Indonesia's economy continued to grow because it was driven by excellent export performance in Q3 2025. Some of Indonesia's leading commodities showed a significant increase, such as palm oil (CPO) whose price rose, and chemical and pharmaceutical industry products whose exports jumped sharply. In addition, derivative products resulting from downstreaming are also growing.

Regional Economic Activity Determines Minimum Wage

  • The provincial minimum wage (UMP) for 2026 will soon be set by the government at the end of this month. The minimum wage will be decided by considering the aspirations of workers, labor unions, employers, and the wage board.
  • By 2025, the UMP will increase by an average of 6.5%. In several new autonomous regions (DOBs) in Papua, the UMP increase is higher. Jakarta's UMP in 2025 is recorded as the highest UMP with Rp 5,396,761. This figure reflects the high cost of living and economic activity in the metropolitan area. Four DOBs in Papua, namely Central Papua, Mountainous Papua, Southwest Papua, and South Papua have the highest UMP after the Special Region of Jakarta, surpassing other provinces.
